Privacy Policy
1. What We Collect
When you use SmartCards, we collect the following information:
- Account information: Your email address and display name when you register.
- User-generated content: The flashcards, quiz questions, and notebook structure generated from your uploaded files. We do not store the original files you upload — they are processed and discarded.
- Usage data: Quiz scores, study session progress, and card performance data to power the spaced repetition system.
- Device identifiers: A Firebase Cloud Messaging token to send you push notifications (only if you grant permission).
- Subscription data: Your subscription plan, product ID, and expiry date if you purchase a Premium plan.
2. How We Use Your Data
- To provide the core app functionality — generating, storing, and displaying your flashcards.
- To personalise your study sessions via spaced repetition based on your performance history.
- To send study reminders and feature announcements via push notifications (only if you opt in).
- To manage your subscription and unlock Premium features.
3. Who We Share Data With
- Supabase: Our backend database and authentication provider. Your data is stored on Supabase servers.
- Google (Firebase): Used for push notification delivery. Your device token is shared with Firebase.
- Google (Gemini AI): Your uploaded file content is sent to Google Gemini to generate flashcards. Files are not retained by Google beyond the API call.
- Groq: Your uploaded file content is sent to Groq to generate flashcards.Same data handling as above.
- RevenueCat: Manages in-app subscriptions. Your user ID and subscription status are shared with RevenueCat.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
4. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data — including notebooks, flashcards, quiz scores, and progress — is permanently deleted within 30 days.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. To delete your account and all associated data, visit our account deletion page or use the Delete Account option in the app under Profile.
6. Security
All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are never stored — authentication is handled by Supabase using industry-standard secure methods.
7. Children's Privacy
SmartCards is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via the app. Continued use of SmartCards after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
